Tom Perdue

Black Diamond Communities

As a husband and father of 5 children, Tom Perdue knows the importance of a great education. In 2000, Mr. Perdue purchased his first parcel of land in Grayson. He came to Grayson with a vision of building “Homes for Life” and founded his company, Black Diamond Communities and Black Diamond Homes. With his vision came a commitment to the entire community, including the Grayson Cluster Schools.

Coincidently, during this same time period, the Grayson Cluster Schools Foundation was formed and a lasting partnership between the Foundation and Tom Perdue was forged. In March 2001, a ground breaking ceremony was held for Windsor Place, the first Black Diamond Community in Grayson. During the ceremony, Mr. Perdue presented the Grayson Cluster Schools foundation with a check for $25,000.00.

Mr. Perdue understands that communities and schools are greatly impacted by residential development. As a developer and home builder, Mr. Perdue is committed to giving back to the community that has sustained his developments. Just one year later, Mr. Perdue was back again with another donation. This time he gave another $25,000.00 to be used to purchase a green “Ram” truck to be raffled so that the Foundation’s name would be seen all over Grayson.

For 5 months, the truck was around Grayson and the Foundation was able to turn the $25,000.00 donation into a $37,500.00 donation. Mr. Perdue continues to support the Grayson Cluster Schools Foundation in all its endeavors and has made additional contributions.

Tom Perdue was raised in Americas, GA and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1969. He earned his real estate license while in college and began working in real estate in May of 1970. In 1974 Perdue took a detour from real estate and worked in politics for many years. He is the only Georgian to serve as senior aide to two consecutive Governors, having served as Chief of Staff for both Governor George Busbee and Governor Joe Frank Harris.

After leaving the state government, Tom and his wife, Paige formed a political consulting company. He sold that company after the successful U. S. Senate campaign that he managed for Saxby Chambliss in 2002. During the years he successfully managed campaigns, he worked for Paul Coverdell, Bill Frist, Charlie Norwood and other state and regional candidates.

Tom and Paige Perdue are blessed with 5 wonderful children, Bill, 24; Mallory, 20; Dawn, 16; Charlie, 5; and Thomas, 8 months old.
